pigments have not been used in paints sold to the general public for
many years. How do I know if there is lead in my previously painted surfaces?In pre-1960 buildings, the wood and metal surfaces may have been decorated
with paint containing lead pigments. Buy
a lead paint test kit from b&q Prior to 1960 lead paint was often used on interior & exterior surfaces To check if the paint in your home contains lead, use nitromers lead paint test kit as directed In preparation for testing remove all dust and dirt from test area Easy to use, just squeeze tube until liquid appears & rub test area for 30 seconds Either red or pink indicates that lead is present, if there is no change lead is absent Use of this kit is not intended to replace a professional inspection If lead paint is present, carefully remove with a chemical remover such as nitromors Improper removal of lead paint can create lead dust or fumes that can be a health hazard Dispose of used swab in a dustbin
